When it comes to working comfort, the Black & Decker QS900 1/4 Sheet Sander is second to none in the world of sheet sanders. It is designed for easy control by way of the improved handling of the machine. All the features of the sander work in harmony to make your work easier while giving professional results within the shortest time possible.

Specifications

The sander qualifies to be labeled as lightweight as it only reads 3.05 lbs. on the weight scale. It is also a mild consumer of power as it requires 120 V for operation, which corresponds with 2 amps of electricity. The power it consumes is enough to output 16000 revolutions per minute (rpm) thus making that rough surface as smooth as it can be in no time.

Handling

The QS900 is fitted with a state-of-art dust collector to ensure clean working space and reduce irritability of the operator thus can be used by any person no matter the health conditions. As the name suggests, it has a 1/4 sheet sander which enough to ensure quick and thorough job. Incorporated in the tool is a soft grip casing for efficient handling and safe grip that is gentle to the hand and tough for the job. Needless to say, all the great features of the tool are encased in a compact size to enhance control as well as making it amazingly portable.

Performance

This tool is made for all conditions and for every intended use. For instance, its paper fittings accommodates both the specialized and standard paper i.e. it is possible to utilize older regular papers as well as acquire predesigned sheets ready to use. The handle is righty positioned with the switched to ensure ease of switching on and off. Besides that, its power is well designed to go well with the userís power hence no fatigue due to exposure to machine power. In addition, the machine runs no risk of toppling over due to rotation because of the smooth rotation designed to be safe and effective.

Summary

Strengths

Flexibility, comfort and power of this tool is enough to make oneís job a joyride and a source of inspiration to do the job hours on end. The dust collector is also one of its precious possessions thus makes for a cleaner job.

Weaknesses

The locking of the filter at the back is dubious since it sometimes comes off while at work. This can pose a safety risk at times as well.

Conclusion

Generally, the tool is pretty good overall as it is designed. It won’t dazzle anyone with its performance but it’s a good value at the price point that it’s at. The intent of the manufacturer was to improve ease of use while still maintaining a professional quality tool. They seem to have achieved both of these in the QS900 sander. Can you find a better sander tool? Perhaps, but it’s going to cost you more.
