The Honda EU 1000i watt portable generator is arguably one of the best portable generators on the market that come with portability as part of their marketing strategy. As is known of most of the portable generators from Honda, this generator is not only quiet but also lightweight, making it a good choice for people who want to get reliable and clean energy for camping. It is also built to make a source of energy for homes whenever there is power outage.
Performance and Use
This model of Honda generators is appropriate for powering fans, lights, TV and other small power tools and appliances that do not require a lot of power. The generator has a capacity of 1000 Watts, but can be paralleled with another generator of the same model in order to double the power output. With an additional cord or cable, paralleling two identical Honda EU 1000i generators will produce up to 4000 watts of power.
For charging automotive batteries of 12 volts, the EU 1000i has a DC-out port although you will need to use an optional charging cord for this purpose. Additionally, the generator can be used for sensitive equipment such as computers because it has the advanced inverter technology built in it. That means that one can get clean and stable power in a lightweight package.
Pros of the Honda EU 1000i Generator
Oil alert: This portable generator is protected by an oil alert mechanism that shuts down the engine from running when it detects low oil. This helps mitigate any chances of damage that can occur to the engine when it runs on low oil.
Lightweight: It weighs only 29 pounds, making it incredibly light weight for its capacity.
Fuel efficient: It can run for 8.3 hours on just 0.6 gal. of fuel.
Circuit protected: The generator is circuit protected as a safety measure to protect it in case of an overload.
Cons of the Honda EU 1000i
Retailing at $465 on eBay, the generator is a bit expensive for its output. It is also not powerful enough to power appliances that need slightly more power such as fridges, so it is not ideal for slightly medium-weight users. Lastly, not only is it expensive to refuel but it is also difficult and expensive to find its spare parts.
