The following is a 100% authentic, 100% real review. I was not provided a complimentary product or compensated in any way for this review.
In 1995 Match.com was introduced as and still remains the largest dating website on the Internet, with over 25 million members and serving over 24 countries. That’s a lot of single people! Out of the hundreds of online dating sites available, Match caters to the more wholesome side of dating. Members are there to find a lifelong partner, so if you’re just out trolling for sex, Match.com probably isn’t the best site for you. In this installment, we provide a Match.com review of features, our thoughts on profiles, subscription costs and more.
Match.com Profile Tips
How you decide to fill out your profile will have direct impact on your dating future. Try not to sound overly needy, controlling or arrogant. Also, please don’t write nine pages about your past personal history, we really don’t want to hear about at this stage. Turn on the charm, make it simple and smile while you write.
Once you’ve decided to give the dating scene a go, there are many tools Match offers that will help you to learn more about yourself and what kind of mate you’re searching for. By the way, you can join and set your profile up for free and look at other profiles all day if you want but if you want to contact someone you need to become a paid member, I’ll give a rundown of pricing in a bit. Listed below are some of the super awesome features that Match.com offers.
Make Love Happen Guarantee – If you sign up for a 6 month subscription and don’t find a mate, Match will give you another 6 months free.
Total Attraction Matching System – This incorporates a personality profiling tool and a physical attraction test, only Match.com offers.
MindFindBind – This is a 3 step program, created by Dr. Phil. It features Dr. Phil’s greatest advice and proven techniques for successfully finding your true love.
One and two way searches – I really liked this, the one way allows your basic search. The two way search will let you know which members are right for you based on your personality profile bringing perfect compatibility.
Matchwords – A keyword search. So if you’re searching for someone else that does underwater basket weaving, this feature will bring the two of you together right away.
Last logged in – This is a tool that will tell when the last time was that a member logged in. You wouldn’t want to waste your time on someone that hasn’t logged in for three months.
When it comes to freebies on Match.com, you can set up your profile for free and that’s about it. If you look around, you can also find the trial memberships for 3 or 7 days of free access, but the online dating giant doesn’t give much away for free. There are currently three primary pricing tiers:
- 1 month is $34.99
- 3 months is $59.97
- 6 months is $101.94
You can usually find discounts and the site runs promotions on a regular basis. You may want to wait until they’re running a special before you sign up if you don’t want to pay full price. There’s almost always a deal to be had, no matter what time of year.
In our experience, you can also give them a call and ask for a reduced price when speaking with their customer service department. They often quite willing to reduce the cost of your subscription to get you started.
Our Overall Thoughts
The overall qualities of the member profiles are pretty good. The website itself is so user friendly that a child could navigate it. There does seem to be some fake profiles which are easily spotted, just remember, if it sounds like a duck, it’s probably a duck.
The quality of the matches you get is questionable at times. That’s likely more the nature of online dating in general than the site itself, though.
Match.com has partnered with the National Cyber Security Alliance to promote online safety and cyber-security awareness. It’s much safer to get to know someone through the Match.com email system rather than giving up your personal email, but of course it is your choice, just be sure to practice safe habits and good luck to you in finding true love.
Overall, we’d give Match.com a 2.5 out of 5 possible stars rating.
