The following is a 100% authentic, 100% real review. I was not provided a complimentary product or compensated in any way for this review.

Trekkies deserve love too.

Star Trek Dating is a website that aspires to connect Star Trek fans with each other for the purposes of creating opportunities for romances to blossom. Trekkies are a part of a niche group that loves everyone Star Trek. Although outsiders might not always understand why these fans love the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, Trekkies recognize that there is something about the series that causes them to dream and wonder about all the possibilities that lie ahead in the future. The mission of Star Trek Dating is to connect Trekkies seeking love together and to…”make it so.”

The Money Aspect

Creating a basic account to get yourself started on Star Trek Dating won’t cost you anything. All you need to do to sign up is to head to the account creation tab and fill out your information. The side effect of this is that there are advertisements on the website but they are thankfully too distracting. For an additional subscription you can send 100 messages a day, visit the chat room and send instant messages to other users. A monthly subscription is listed at £20 GPS which approximately $30 USD is making it a slightly pricy website to have full membership at.

Profiles and Matches

Creating a profile only took moments. All I had to do was fill out the standard basic information and upload a photo before my account was live. Once I was set up, the real fun began. Because this is a dating website for fans of Star Trek, there were many opportunities to list your favorite character and which group you most affiliate yourself with. They were small touches but they were the kind that helps a community like this one connect with the main unifying force that sparked these users to sign up on this dating website instead of a different one.

It was easy to access the search function and narrow my search down to profiles that fit my desired demographic. I felt that the profiles are easy to navigate. In the center of the page are the responses to the different questions that users answer when signing up for an account. Any uploaded photos above that location and are clickable to view a larger version. Because Star Trek Dating is a niche market website, profiles on this website are overly legitimate. Although every dating website potentially has spammers, the profiles reviewed appeared to be normal users looking for a date.

Website Usability

The website’s design is very functional. On the top left portion of the screen is the menu which has clearly marked links that all work. Below the menu is a feed of the top viewed members. While exploring the different sections of Star Trek Dating, I found that it is very stable website that thankfully operates well. It is easy for me to figure out where to go when it came to stepping up my account in moments.

Although there were many sections of Star Trek Dating that I wasn’t able to explore due to not having a paid subscription, the portions of the website that I was able to access show promise to this small yet energetic community.

Star Trek Dating is still a relatively new website that has a lot of room for growth. With barely 1000 users signed up so far, it’s clear that that the website is aiming for quality over quantity when it comes to building a strong membership base. The creators of Star Trek Dating are on the right track when it comes to servicing a niche community that has unique common interests. If there is one flaw, it’s the overpriced nature of the subscription for the type of dating website this is. Other than that, the website is brilliant in its approach. The honest opinion of this website is that on a scale of 1 (dreadfully horrible) to 5 (amazingly wonderful), Star Trek Dating gets a 4 out of a possible 5 stars.
