This is an unpaid review of the Westin on Tampa Bay. I was not compensated in any way for this review. All opinions are 100% mine and 100% authentic.
The Tampa Bay area is full of great hotels. I had the opportunity to visit Tampa Bay for spring break this past year with my family. We wanted to stay in a hotel that wasn’t too far from all of the night life in downtown Tampa but also was convenient to Clearwater Beach on Florida’s Gulf coast as well. We had a busy trip planned – a day at the beach, a day at Busch Gardens Tampa, dinners in downtown Tampa and a Ray’s baseball game over in St. Petersburg. After quite a bit of research, we decided to make our home away from home the Westin Tampa Bay for our family trip.
Westin Tampa Bay Location
The Westin Tampa Bay is located on the northwest side of Tampa Bay. The hotel is located on what appears to be a small island connected by highway 60. The hotel is only 10 minutes from the Tampa International Airport and (traffic allowing) is less than 30 minutes from downtown Tampa, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Clearwater Beach. The immediate area surrounding the Westin Tampa Bay includes a number of restaurants, another hotel and Tampa’s Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
Boasting water and downtown skyline views, convenience to the gulf beaches and St. Petersburg in the west as well as downtown Tampa, Ybor City and Busch Gardens to the east, the Westin Tampa Bay’s location is difficult to beat if you’re looking to explore all that Tampa Bay has to offer.
Westin Tampa Bay Features
Westin hotels are second to none when it comes to their ‘creature comforts’. The hotels are always top-notch in style, condition, cleanliness and customer service. The Westin Tampa Bay offered all the standard Westin features like the Heavenly Bed and signature Heavenly Bath. The room quality in all Westin Restorts I’ve had the pleasure of visiting have always been among the best of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
My family and I also spent some time in the hotel pool – an indoor pool on one of the lower levels. The pool was an awkward shape but was fine for just messing around with my boys. It would be very difficult to use the pool as a form of exercise with it’s “L” shape.
The Westin Tampa Bay also had a very nice workout room, complete with fitness machines, weights, treadmills and a number of dumbells.
Westin Tampa Bay Overall Thoughts
Overall, Westin Hotels have to be one of my favorite chain of major hotels. I’ve yet to have a negative experience in a Westin Hotel and I plan on staying with Westin as often as I’m able. The Westin on Tampa Bay has a great location, was built new in 2009 so it’s still got that new hotel look and feel, it’s got a great view, modern, clean rooms and all of the features you’ll learn to appreciate that Westin offers.
[easyreview cat1rating=”4.5″ cat1title=”Features & Amenities” cat1detail=”You can tell the clientele of this hotel is primarily business guests and those visiting the Shriner’s Hospital for Children just down the road. Its location in close proximity to the airport ensures the hotel will cater to business travelers but we fit in during our family vacation as well.” cat2rating=”5.0″ cat2title=”Hotel Condition” cat2detail=”The hotel is nearly new, having opened in 2009. We experienced no maintenance issues with anything in our room or any other area of the hotel during our stay. Everything was in like-new condition.” cat3rating=”4.0″ cat3title=”Value” cat3detail=”Westin hotels tend to be a bit more expensive than entry-level hotels, but the difference in quality shows. Westin often runs discounted rates, so keep an eye out for specials.” cat4rating=”4.0″ cat4title=”MMR Overall Rating” cat4detail=”A great hotel in a great location in nearly new condition. If you’re looking for a central location to use as a launching pad as you explore the Tampa Bay area I highly recommend this hotel!”]
