The following is a 100% authentic, 100% real review. I was not provided a complimentary product or compensated in any way for this review.

Are you a creative type who always seems to spend hours writing? WritersPassions.com is a dating website designed to service writers who want to connect and meet with each other. Although it has a smaller number of users than other websites, it does appear to have a strong membership that regularly communicates with each other in the chat room and forums. How well does Writers Passions muster compared to more established dating websites? It’s up to this review to see if the suggested passion of this website holds up to its promise.

The Money Aspect

The good news is that creating an account is completely free. All you need is a valid email to create an account and start building your profile. The bad news is that you can expect to be blasted with advertisements from all angles. It seems that the creators of the website pay for the website by having advertisements covering so much of it that the website has become oversaturated with them.

Once your account is created, you can contact other members for free and visit the forums and chat room. It appears that in exchange for having to deal with all the advertisements, you are able to have access to all the website features immediately. The website does accept donations but you don’t gain any extra usability features beyond those already available from account creation.

Profiles and Matches

Profile creation is a straight forward process. Before completing your registration, the website requires you to fill out the most basic components of your profile. The tabs for what you can say about yourself are pretty standard; although the most interesting feature of profile customization is the high level of detail regarding your favorite activities. Uploading a photo from the profile was simple and worked on my first attempt. All-in-all; it’s easy to set up a customized profile to fit your own personality.

Other profiles appeared to be legitimate for the most part. While there are almost certainly some scammers, they haven’t made themselves known in the chat room or forums portion of Writers Passions. That being said, getting to the point that you could look at someone’s profile (outside of coming across them in the chat room or forums) was a bit challenging. Although there was a search feature, it was a bit clunky and somewhat difficult to use.

There isn’t a built-in formula for determining matches. The best you can do is set you search based on the search fields offered by the search engine. Even then, the search engine is difficult to use and it was troublesome to properly find someone that fit the criteria set due to the search engine’s poor design.

Website Usability

In many respects, this website was troublesome to maneuver. Although the various pages were clearly marked, they didn’t always load properly. This usually resulted in being forced to refresh the website numerous times just to get to the desired location. This made the experience of venturing around Writers Passions frustrating in many instances. The heavy amount of advertisements running in the background may have possibly negatively impacted the website’s usability due to hogging memory while the user is attempting to surf the website in a normal manner.

The messaging system worked appropriately. Thankfully, the messaging system was open so I was able to communicate with whoever I wanted to and the messages were always sent and received properly. The drawback to the messaging system was that it wasn’t apparent at first as to where I was supposed to find my messages. Another issue with the messaging system is that there didn’t appear to be a way to report users that are abusing the messages system to harass other users.

The premise behind the website is a good idea. It’s in the execution of the idea where Writers Passions falls short. While it makes sense for this niche group to have a way to get in touch with each other; this website as it stands still needs a lot of work to becoming the website that it could be with better design and direction. Without a redesign, this website is unlikely to grow much larger due to all the issues that have been mentioned throughout this review.

The honest opinion of this website is that on a scale of of 1 (dreadfully horrible) to 5 (amazingly wonderful), WritersPassions.com gets a 5 out of a possible 10 stars.
